a legacy of prayer
There is so much I could say about Valerie, my beautiful sister. Although she was my younger sister, I looked up to her. Valerie was my hero and influenced my life in many ways.
Her close friends and family called her “the Queen!” The first few times we called her that she didn’t like it, until I shared with her that her life was likened to Queen Esther. From that point on she was happy to be called “the Queen,” and she milked it for what it was worth! LOL!
Valerie was a woman of the word and integrity, a prayer warrior, a carrier of the presence of Jesus, wise with amazing insights, and an encourager to many. She had a heart of compassion, a sweet spirit, was kind, and she served in many capacities to help people in any way she could. Valerie was fun and had a great sense of humor. She made everyone laugh with her quick wit! But, Valerie was also very quiet and reflective. She silently suffered with health issues most of her life and was limited physically but never allowed the limitations to hold her back and didn’t complain about it. Instead, she lifted those things up in prayer. She had an innocence and strong faith that was very childlike. She loved her daughters and grandchildren with all of her heart. They were her greatest treasures along with her family and friends! Valerie loved people, and was loved by many! She lived a simple but powerful life.
In 2000 when Valerie returned from her journey in Heaven with Jesus, she was forever changed. She received a revelation of the love of Jesus and who HE is!! The Lord spoke to her, “Your time on earth is not finished, my desire is for you to return to the earth with a message. Tell them who I am! Tell them how much I love them!” She didn’t want to leave Jesus and heaven but she surrendered her will to His, obeying His plan for her life. Those that knew her before her visit to heaven, knew she was not the same person! The love, presence and joy of Jesus was imprinted in Valerie. It radiated from her and was like a sweet fragrance from heaven that permeated the atmosphere. It was tangible! We were witnesses to Valerie’s transformation!
Her greatest privilege in life was to be a “hidden minister” in intercession, and to behold an audience of One. Preferring not to be in the “lime light” by speaking publicly, it gave her great joy to share about heaven and her time with Jesus to the multitudes or in intimate settings with others. Her emphasis was all about the person, Jesus, His love, and the secret place. Valerie lived in a realm of pure and simple-hearted devotion to Jesus Christ. She had caught hold of her “heavenly calling!” When she spoke and prayed publicly you knew she had been with Jesus. Her prayers and words carried authority and power!
When Valerie received the countless testimonies from those impacted by her story, she was overwhelmed with joy and it touched her heart deeply to see what Jesus was doing in the lives of others! She walked in humility and always gave the glory to the Lord for the great things He had done in her life.
Valerie was a bright and shining star that brought the light of Jesus to others. When you look up at the stars in the night sky remember that He created you to light someone’s darkness each day until you go home!
Since her visit to heaven and back some years ago, she was homesick to be with Jesus and her eternal home – heaven. One of the last things she said to me was “Jesus misses me and is taking me home!” And on December 15, 2020 she breathed her last breath on this earth, and took her first breath in heaven.
Valerie loved JESUS with all of her heart! She was His bride! And she did all He asked of her. She fought the good fight, she finished her race well, and kept the faith, she pressed toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 4:7; Philippians 3:14
After her passing a friend asked, “I would love to have a synopsis of Valerie’s prayer burden so that we can carry on her legacy in prayer.”
